We made the short trip down the M2 to Dartford to give a little TLC to a beautiful established magnolia tree. Having been pruned a little while back there were obvious pruning points to work off which made life a little simpler. It had certainly bolted for the sky being in a fairly shaded spot and required about 8 feet of height reduction as well as shaping. Magnolia is a fairly soft and easy cutting wood which meant that we were able to carry out the bulk of the job from the ground with our very handy 23 foot loppers. To finish a quick climb of about 20 feet to tidy up a few of the thicker upper branches with the silky then back down to Earth to tidy up and admire our work.
