Tips for growing strawberries

Strawberries are delicious and really easy to grow, here's how.

Plant them in sunny spot, they don't mind direct sunlight. Surround with a bed of straw (hence the name. This is to stop the berries getting damaged on the ground. You can alternatively plant in purpose built strawberry planters which keep the fruits off the ground, or in trays on trestle tables. Strawberries like to be well watered but can withstand dry spells. Feed in them with some Miracle Gro in May for lots of fruit in late June and July. They will spread naturally and you can move the new plants which take root from a runner nd put them where you want. In very little time the strawberry plants will have proliferated and you will have an established strawberry patch.
